N.I.C.K. has been described as, “Mankind, stumbling blindly into the book of Revelation.” When man rejects the supremacy of God, he unfailingly proceeds to try to take His place. The story looks the same every time, since the time of the Tower of Babel. The inspiration for N.I.C.K. came when celebrity investor Elon Musk compared artificial intelligence to “summoning the demon.” It made for good press, and he got the coverage he was probably looking for. But what if we as people crossed that line? If we stumbled upon a way, perhaps guided by overt Luciferians, to summon the evil one, to take residence in a super-computer. We’ve already built a global network of devices that control and monitor every detail of our lives. If he doesn’t openly control it now, then I realized I could take that last, fictitious step, give him a voice that can speak directly to us, and illustrate in blunt terms how he manipulates every one of us, and what he has always wanted to accomplish, if given the opening. The first part is subtitled, “Cyber Babel.” It chronicles Nick’s rise, and shows the brutally manipulative tactics he uses to seize total power. But there is also hope. The protagonists come to see the darkness they helped to create, and wherever one sees a shadow, he realizes there is surely a light that cast that shadow. By looking in the direction of the light, they ultimately see the modern, materialist lifestyle for what it is, and find a faith they never knew. The second part, subtitled, “The Prodigy,” tells the story of Nick’s use of all sorts of human conflicts, playing one side off against another, and in the process, making both serve him. And lacking a body, he must find, and anoint, his personal prodigy. The man we know as the Antichrist. I invite you to select the ebook, and click the book’s cover, to “look inside”. You will have free access to the first ten percent of the book, taking you past the point where Nick acquires intelligence, and begins his schemes. I’m confident you’ll agree, it’s a powerful, chilling story, that should serve as a wakeup call to those in a state of spiritual slumber.

OK! Christian Science Fiction is stretching it a bit. It’s not off the planet, and it’s not very far in the future. But it is Christian Religious fiction. It does involve something scientifically which is not available, and probably not possible. And the leads are a pair of scientists and computer.

So, Christian Science Fiction it is
Basically, this is a thriller with a dark spiritual edge. For a person who never knows fear any more (by the grace of the Lord), this one got to me. The science of the story is artificial intelligence. The way it happens is a bit frightening, I must admit.

Normally, when that happens in a book, I quit reading. I’m not offended by it, or anything like that. But my wife and I have always considered people, who consciously watch or read frightening movies, shows, or books, to have a serious problem with masochism. It may not be as bad as using a Windows machine, but it’s right up there.

But N.I.C.K. is a compelling twist. The book is basically a thriller. As you may remember, I’ve gotten very bored with thrillers. But this one kept my interest well.

Spiritually, it is third level, or religious fiction
The complexity of the characters is gradually revealed through the trials and pressures they face. Many make very bad choices. Even the good guys only make the good choice reluctantly. But they do, on a religious level.

The Christian Religious Fiction award of excellence
TJ has definitely earned this. Though the Christian side is a bit weak, what saves the book spiritually is the realistic depiction of level three enemy activity. That is very rare these days.

The quality of the writing is good. Technically it is well put together. It’s a good book.

You should read it!

NICK 1 Cyber Babel and 2 The Prodigy TJ Tucker 9781520549422 Books Reviews

Captivating, thought provoking enjoyable, well written, could not put it down. Thank you TJ Tucker.
This book grabbed my attention from the beginning. From a Christian perspective, I didn't know where the book was headed until almost toward the end, which is not a bad thing. I had hoped to get more than a sampling of book two. I presume it is not out as yet. I loved the pace, the characters and the references to the timely present day episodes as we move toward these last and closing days.
This two volume work is a re-telling of the Book of Revelation, in a modern context. Although the sheer quantity of characters (and keeping their story threads untangled) is a bit daunting, Tucker's set up of Curtis Fadi, his creation of a liberal, morality-based anti-establishment guru, living in sanctuary in a Chinese embassy in London is rather brilliant. I won't spoil the story--DO read it--it is better researched than Dan Brown's books, for one thing. For another, the conception of NICK, the artificial intelligence mega-computer turned into a vehicle for Satan ("I prefer "Lucifer!" is a frequent statement) is genius. Okay, it's not original. Arthur C. Clarke came up with the idea in "2001 A Space Odyssey" but this takes a few twists and turns away from Clarke's vision. Definitely worth the readtime (it carried me through a several day bout with the flu). Only one pretty big hole in the plot why, when the US President is killed in an airplane crash, is there no mention of a vice president or other successors? The jump to the director of HHS was bothersome and hurt the flow of the book, in my opinion. Looking forward to seeing future works by TJ Tucker.
